Privacy at Salt Water Pool Calculator

Salt Water Pool Calculator sets no cookies and collects no personal data. To improve the calculators, pages send anonymous usage counts that round your numbers into bands.

Your inputs

What happens to calculator inputs

The calculators run on the page itself. The exact gallons, readings and measurements you type are never sent anywhere. When a result has stayed on screen for 2 seconds, the page sends one anonymous count with those numbers rounded into bands. We have no accounts, no newsletter and no advertising tracker.

Usage counts

What an anonymous usage count holds

Each count holds only these 9 things:

  • What happened: a page view, a result, a warning that showed, the button that answered it, a box that showed an error, or a link that carried a result into another calculator.
  • Which page, and which calculator on it.
  • The salt system picked from the list, or “Other”.
  • The pool size as a band, such as 15,000 to 20,000 gallons, and the salt reading and target as bands, such as 3,000 to 3,500 ppm.
  • The kind of result: add salt, first fill, on target, in range, drain and refill, or held until you check the target.
  • Which warning showed (a reading that looks like g/L, a target outside the salt system’s range, a big dose from the panel alone) and which button answered it.
  • The pool shape, whether the measuring helper gave the gallons, and whether lengths were typed in feet, feet and inches, or inches.
  • For an error, the name of the box, such as “gallons”. Never what was typed in it.
  • For a link into another calculator, the page it led to.

It never holds:

  • The exact gallons, readings, targets or measurements you type.
  • Your IP address, browser or device details.
  • A cookie, an ID or anything that links one visit to another.

The counts are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, on the Cloudflare account that hosts this site, and Analytics Engine keeps them for 3 months. We read them as totals, to see which calculators get used, which warnings show, and which boxes trip people up. Cloudflare serves the pages, so like any web host it handles your connection; our counts don’t store anything from it.

Opting out

How to turn the counts off

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the pages send no counts at all. The calculators work the same either way.

Measurement

What traffic measurement runs

Google Search Console reports how pages appear in Google Search from Google’s side. It adds no script to the site.

Ads

Which display ads may run

Display ads may run on this site in future. An ad network can set its own cookies, so we’ll name the ad network and its cookies on this page before any ads run.

Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure

Some later pages may contain Amazon Associates links to test kits, salt cells or salt bags. Those links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow", sit below the fold, and never appear inside a calculator. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission.

A commission never changes the dose a calculator prints. Doses come from the sourced data file described in the methodology, not from a retailer.

No affiliate link is live today.

You can see who runs the site on the about page, and the terms of use cover how to use the numbers. Send questions about this policy through contact Salt Water Pool Calculator.
