About
About Salt Water Pool Calculator
Salt Water Pool Calculator is a free set of pool salt calculators, built by Trieu Ly. Give it gallons and a salt test, and it gives you pounds of salt and 40-lb bags. Each salt target cites the Pentair, Jandy, Hayward, CircuPool or Intex document it comes from, and each price a dated retail listing.

Content
What the calculators publish
We publish calculators that give you pounds of salt, gallons of water and 40-lb bags to buy. Every salt target, threshold and price cites a manufacturer document, a unit definition or a dated retailer listing. The worked examples are our own calculations. The main tool is the salt water pool calculator.
Tables, worked examples and calculators all read from the same data file, so each figure has one source.
Sources
Where the targets and prices come from
The numbers come from unit definitions and manufacturer manuals. The methodology page lists every formula, every manual with its part number and retrieval date, and the date of the last review. If a figure doesn’t match its document, tell us through contact and corrections.
Scope
What the site does not publish
We don’t publish 4 kinds of content.
- Pool-care doctrine
- Troubleshooting beyond the salt reading
- Product reviews
- “Best of” lists
The calculators don’t diagnose what’s wrong with your water. When a manufacturer’s own guide gives a check for a salt reading or a high-salt light, we report it and cite it. When a manufacturer publishes no number, the calculator page says so. The swim wait after adding salt is one example: neither the Pentair nor the Jandy manual states one, and we don’t invent a figure.
